Native Houstonian Veronica Mullenix spent a decade as an English and writing teacher before moving to Alpharetta, Georgia where her REALTOR® planted the seed that she’d be an excellent agent. Upon returning to Katy Texas three years later, still inspired by her REALTOR’s suggestion, she changed graduate school plans to earn her real estate license.
Veronica exemplifies the adage, “Once a teacher, always a teacher.” Soon after she became licensed, Veronica earned her TREC instructor credentials and began teaching pre-licensing courses, MCE classes, and NAR’s ePRO certification training at Champions School of Real Estate, the Houston Association of REALTORS, and elsewhere. She is also certified to teach additional courses in internet business development and online etiquette.
The Houston agent says her teaching background gives her a unique skill set to be able to educate clients, as well as to prepare concise and persuasive marketing copy for her listings. To persist in being a knowledgeable practitioner Veronica stays informed about market conditions, and industry issues and developments through involvement in local, state, and national Realtor® Association leadership and governance. Ms. Mullenix serves on numerous advisory groups and task forces, and is dedicated to shaping the future of the real estate industry.
Educating potential clients is essential to her real estate practice so she regularly answers questions posed by the public on the Houston Association of REALTORS ® online community Q&A page.
Veronica is no stranger to websites. In fact, during the early days of her career in 1998, she focused her practice online. Before the ink was dry on her license, she had already purchased a domain name and was setting up a website as one of the internet’s realty pioneers. She says her online presence has naturally evolved and continues to thrive.
Prospective clients will Google agents so the successful agent must maintain a presence everywhere, from the MLS, to local boards, and social media sites. It’s essential for a Realtor to continuously sustain and perpetuate an online presence. However, Veronica cautions agents to be wary of “trying every shiny new object.” Focus on a few to maintain, and fully develop these before adding more. Having authentic client reviews on HAR or other sites is also extremely valuable.
Often called upon to coach and train Realtors individually or in small groups, Veronica shares with her students a variety of successful systems for developing a repeat and referral based business. Veronica is a staunch believer that building relationships online and off line is the key to success in real estate. She stays in touch with past clients and colleagues through a variety of ways, whether meeting for a meal, coffee, or shopping, or even just texting a funny story or photo.
Veronica is proud to be paperless and mobile, using her iPad, DocuSign and other technology to service clients. She can work with clients and complete contract forms anywhere she happens to be whether it’s in a car, at a restaurant, a coffee shop, or a shopping mall. Veronica’s adept skill with mobile technology has earned her many referrals from busy successful professionals who live in Houston and abroad. She has even brought a notary and her iPad to Houston’s hospitals so medical personnel who work round the clock can complete real estate transactions. Even when her clients are not able to be in front of their PCs or tablets, she brings her mobile tools to them. Veronica is always finding ways to make the real estate transaction easier on her clients’ schedules. Clients find working with Veronica refreshing. Her electronic business skills and bright creative style saves time for everyone. She has developed her marketing and services to ensure that her clients receive the most memorable transaction experience possible; more than just satisfactory, MEMORABLE!
As an active member of the community, Veronica is involved in a number of community charity events, including Impact A Hero fundraising through her “Katy Shred Days”, and National Night Out. She is actively involved with the Katy Area Economic Development Council, the Katy Chamber of Commerce, and volunteers in local elementary schools. The former teacher is a PTA business patron of several KatyISD schools.
Growing up as the youngest of eight children in a very close-knit family, Veronica was provided with a strong foundation that helped mold her personality in the positive-thinking, success-minded, upbeat individual she is today. She infuses her professional career with her warm enthusiasm for life, an enthusiasm that radiates from the foundation of her strong family life and her core belief in deeply held principles. Her favorite passage from Proverbs 24:3-4 applies both to her personal life and her approach to real estate: “By wisdom is a house built, by understanding is it made firm, and by knowledge are its rooms filled with every precious and pleasing possession.”
